Bounce Notifications

Bounce Notifications can be enabled or disabled for specific SMTP Users, Authenticated IPs or API Keys so you're notified when soft or hard bounces occur.

How to enable:

SMTP User
Navigate to 'Sending > SMTP Users' > select the specific SMTP User > click on the 'Advanced' tab on the right side > turn Bounce Notifications on or off and set the recipient address if needed.

IP Authentication
Navigate to 'Sending > IP Authentication' > select the specific IP Address > click on the 'Advanced' tab on the right side > turn Bounce Notifications on or off and set the recipient address if needed.

API Keys
Navigate to 'Sending > API Keys' > select the specific API Key > click on the 'Advanced' tab on the right side > turn Bounce Notifications on or off and set the recipient address if needed.

You can choose to have the notification emails sent to the original sender or nominate an email address.

It's important to note that if you enable Bounce Notifications, you will need to ensure you have valid MX records as per:

  • If you set it to deliver to the original sender, MX records are required for the sending domain.
  • If you set it to deliver to a selected email address, MX records are required for that domain.

If the addresses are invalid / have non-existent MX, when sending you will encounter a "550 unable to verify sender address" or "550 Sender verify failed" error.
