Setting up an SPF Record
To improve email deliverability, we recommend checking to see if the domain name of your business has an SPF record already setup. An SPF record for a domain name lists the mail servers that are allowed to send emails with a ‘From’ email address of @yourdomainname.com.
Most domain names do not have an SPF record already setup. To check if your domain name has an SPF record, please visit MXToolBox, and search for spf:yourdomain.com (replace yourdomain.com with your actual domain name). Note: the 'spf:' at the beginning is essential to include in that search.
On the results page, if you have an SPF record already, you'll see a line that begins with ‘v=spf1’.
If your domain name already has an SPF record, you should add the following to the existing SPF record:
For example, if your SPF record currently looks like this:
v=spf1 a mx ?all
You should change it to this:
v=spf1 a mx include:spf.smtp2go.com ?all
To change your SPF record, you will need to do this at your webhost (or whoever hosts the DNS for your domain name).

Important: If you already have an SPF record, then you should modify that existing record. You must not have more than one SPF record.

If your domain name does not have an SPF record, you technically do not need to do anything. However, you may wish to setup an SPF record at some point in the future, as a correct SPF record can help improve your email deliverability. Please also be aware that an incorrectly setup SPF record can harm email deliverability. If you are setting up a brand new SPF record, take particular care to mention every mail server that will be used to send emails. To avoid rejections, you should consider placing ?all at the end of your SPF record.

We already have an SPF record. Should we modify it, or add another one?
You must modify your existing SPF record, by adding include:spf.smtp2go.com to it (before the 'all' statement at the end). The SPF protocol states that you must never have more than one SPF record.
Our existing SPF record has a 'redirect' statement in it. What should we do?
If your existing SPF record looks something like this: v=spf1 redirect=spf.anotherprovider.com then you have 2 choices:
1) Modify the SPF record of spf.anotherprovider.com (if you are able to) by adding include:spf.smtp2go.com to it, or
2) Modify your domain's SPF record by changing the 'redirect=' to 'include:'. Look up the domain name of the redirect at Dmarcian (in this example you would look up spf.anotherprovider.com) to see what type of all statement it ends with, such as '-all', and then put that same all statement at the end of your newly modified SPF record. And then add include:spf.smtp2go.com to it, so you might end up with an SPF record looking like this: v=spf1 include:spf.anotherprovider.com include:spf.smtp2go.com -all.
