Restrict Senders or Recipients
The Restrict Senders and Restrict Recipients features allow you to secure your account by setting who can or can't send through the account as well as the ability to list who can receive emails. The features are located in the "Settings > Sending Options > Restrictions" section of the app.
Restrict Senders
The Restrict Senders feature allows you to list certain domains or specific email addresses that are either allowed or not allowed to send through the account.
Note: the email address/domain listed needs to be the return-path (envelope-from) email address/domain. In some cases, that could differ from the "From" email address/domain.
Restrict Senders can be set to:
'Allow ONLY the senders listed below to send'
or
'Allow all senders EXCEPT those listed below to send'
If the feature is set to allow only the listed domains/email addresses to send and an unlisted sender attempts to send, a "550-Sender address@example.com is not on your allow list. You can adjust this on the 'Settings > Sending Options > Restrictions' page at app.smtp2go.com" error will be encountered.
Alternatively, if the feature is set to allow all senders except the ones listed and an address that is listed attempts to send, a "550 Sender address@example.com is on your banned list, you can adjust this on the 'Settings > Sending Options > Restrictions' page at app.smtp2go.com" error will be encountered.
Restrict Recipients
The Restrict Recipients feature allows you to list certain domains or specific email addresses that are allowed to receive emails sent through your account. If enabled and you try to send to an address not listed, a "550 Recipient <emailaddress@example.com> is not on your allow list, you can adjust this on the 'Settings > Sending Options > Restrictions' page at app.smtp2go.com" error will be encountered.
